Abstract

The objective of this work is to present a series of reflections on the cultural consumption of television screens in the City of Córdoba, one of the most important intermediate cities in Argentina. Based on quantitative research that applied a questionnaire on different dimensions of access to technological equipment, television consumption modalities, and other media, this work argues that despite certain premonitions about the end of television, the daily lives of inhabitants of Córdoba is crossed by television. Rather, what this article is about is the various complexities of the contemporary media ecosystem, in which television has a predominant place even if it is not the protagonist it once was. Articulating theoretical elements of cultural studies (Morley), theories of mediatization (Silverstone) and media ecology (Scolari), a critical perspective was constructed to interpret the results of the questionnaires regarding the television content watched, the possession and location of equipment.
