Trends in sports journalism on the Instagram platform

Abstract

The aim of this thesis was to analyze the tools used for sports journalism on the Instagram social network, considering various relevant factors which will be named as follows: duration, setting, photographic resources, language used, and future trends. A mixed analysis was conducted, consisting of a content analysis of 152 posts from three different accounts: @nacidosparavencer, @larebecalanda, and @sondeportes. This generated a database divided into four categories: sports themes, auditory characteristics of Reels, scenography characteristics, and graphic elements of the posts. Additionally, an interview was conducted with three journalists from three different accounts: Rubén Calderón, Iván Chávez, and Ernesto Arredondo. The purpose was to gain insight into their perspectives on the activities they conduct on the platform, how they are conducted, and the implications of generating such content. The document includes infographics and tables that illustrate the results of both analyses and the different conclusions drawn from the research. These findings demonstrate that the methods of procedure, planning, and publication differ from traditional journalism or that presented in traditional media.
